one bite choux (recipe!)

a few days ago,  i made choux from a regular choux recipe, but i shape it into small pieces then named it one bite choux. because you can eat it directly with a single bite. haha
and because my husband (and i) love chocolate, so i made a chocolate filling.
the choux is pretty easy to make, but quite tricky. the key is don't open the oven while baking or the choux will collapse when removed from the oven. so, let the oven kept closed during roasting takes place. so are you ready to bake these mini choux? :D

this recipe i got from someone's blog, too bad i forgot to mark the link (my bad).

so, if you find this recipe when you're googling, please write the link in the comment box below. yes? :)
ok, let's start!

for the choux,
You'll need:
130 gr flour
 1/2 tsp salt
100 grams margarine
4 eggs
250 ml of water

How to Make:
combine water, salt and margarine then cook until boiling.
stir in the flour, stirring until soft and well blended.
allow the dough to warm slightly. preheat oven to 200deg. celsius.
add the eggs into the flour mixture one at a time, stirring constantly or until blended (or you can use a mixer)
spray or spoon into pastry lined baking sheet baking paper / silicone.
bake for approximately 25 minutes.
let them cool in a wire rack then fill with the fiiling.

for the filling,
You'll need:
800cc milk
 200gr caster sugar
5 egg yolks
50gr cornstarch
2tbsp unswetened cocoa powder
100cc whipped cream
1tbsp unsalted butter

How to make:
combine cornstarch and cocoa with milk, set aside.
beat the egg yolks with a fork, add a little milk, set aside.
boil milk and sugar, put cornstarch mixture, stir well, reduce heat.
add the yolk mixture into the milk and stir well (stir very fast or your yolks will become scramble eggs, you really really don't want it to happen)
add the whipping cream, stir again and simmer once again.
remove from heat, put 1 tablespoon butter, melted the butter and stir until well blended.
let it a bit cool, and fill your mini choux!

and you're done!

from 1 recipe i made about 35 mini choux and gone in a blink.
yes one bite and another one bites. lol

enjoy, and good luck for your mini choux! ;)

slow saturday

my Saturday running very slow. i'm just lying in bed for decades *sigh* of course together with shofi. she had a fever yesterday, but now she's looks fine. it was probably because her teeth are growing two or three at once. other than that, i also feel very lonely today, my mom and my grandmother had returned to Makassar after vacationing here for 2 weeks. shofi's dad is also on duty today. hiiks.

so i finally decided to keep myself busy when shofi was sleeping. after googling left and right, here and there (?). i made banana muffins. yes banana again and again. at least there are always bananas in our fridge :p (no we're not a monkey) and thank God, it turned out very delicious. so moist and fluffy. (so maybe I'll write the recipe in my next post). those muffins brighten my day *lebay*. I went back to bed with some (a lot) of muffins and a cup of coffee. (and a laptop and a camera :p). it's still raining outside but it doesn't matter as long as you have a freshly baked muffins and a cup of hot coffee :)

as you can see, i just ate 4 or 5 muffin while writing this

HAPPY CAKEDAY SHOFI!

May 9th one year ago, Shofiyah az-Zahra was born. thank God for a cute and healthy babygirl. one year goes very fast, i still remember my first post about her on this blog. now she's adept at running here and there. she laughs when we make jokes, and dancing when hear music. i'm a proud mom :')

talking about the birthday, we didn't make any celebration for Shofi. we were in Surabaya and Makassar that time. yes, that was her first experience on a plane. and directly flew three times in a week, it was a very short trip. thankfully, she's just cranky on the first flight, but slept for the next two flights. phew!

back to the birthday, i made the box all by my self and was a little (too) excited to make a variety of cakes, food and souvenirs for her friends. i gave the hampers to our neighbor two weeks late from her birthday. but yeah it's better late than never, right?

then now, i'd like to share our happiness through some photos i took before all the cake and cookies gone. and sorry, i didn't get any pictures of the birthday girl, she was very sleepy and a little bit cranky that time.
well thank you for reading this, have a good day ahead and once again, happy CAKEday my little Shofi :)
